A tumultuous welcome was accorded to the Pakistan Navy's first cruiser PNS Babur (Dido class) upon her arrival in Pakistani waters on 26 Sep 1957. Photographed is the ship's company of Babur replying to cheers of flotilla units at the Karachi anchorage where she was received by the then President Mr. Iskandar Mirza who was onboard PN Tippu Sultan. The day was declared a national holiday and PNS Babur was visited by over a lakh persons at East Wharf-I where she secured on entering Karachi harbour.
