Maj (Retd.) MK Sagheer

These photos represent first ever flights from Dhamial to Shinkiari, Patan,  Chilas, Gilgit, Hunza, Passu, Gulmit and to Khunjrab from September 13-27, 1966.  We Flew Oh-13's upto altitudes of approx 16,000 Feet, we were part of 3 Squadron under CO, LT Col NUK Babar.  The mission was to recce the area for future locations for heli-pads for operations with FWO for construction of KKH highway as roads to this area didn't exist.

Pilots were:  Col. Babar, Maj. Awan, Maj. Naeem, Maj. Zia, Maj. Latif, Capt Siraj, Capt. MK Sagheer

It was quite interesting for the locals of this area as it was the first time they saw a helicopter up close, althought PAF helicopters had gone to the Gilgit area before they didn't land at as many places.

Capt. MK Sagheer and Maj. Aftab were the first 2 pilots OH-13 posted with FWO flight in Gilgit.
