Another major milestone was achieved when the first
Squadron of JF-17 Thunder formally joined fighter aircraft fleet of
Pakistan Air Force on Thursday (18th Feb 2010). A ceremony for the
formal induction of JF-17 Thunder aircraft was held at one of the
PAF's operational bases. Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief
of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force was the chief guest on the
occasion. The ceremony culminated when an A-5-III fighter led three
JF-17 Thunder aircraft in a flypast following which a single JF-17
performed aerobatics over the venue. |

Bandit 2009-10 of Pakistan Air Force has
started at a PAF Operational Base. Chief

Corps

Chief of Army
Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief
Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman visited a PAF air base along with senior
officers of both the forces and addressed the airmen on the
occasion. Chief of Army Staff Gen. Kayani spoke at length on the
issue of extremism and terrorism and strongly condemned such trends
of handful of elements. He said that the Operation Rah-e-Raast was
chosen as a last option after exercising various peaceful options.
He said that the present situation is totally different from the
situation of war where, the enemy is well known but in this
situation the enemy is hard to be identified. He said
differentiation between friend and foe is very difficult in this
situation. We want to see peaceful Swat once again, he said. Later,
the COAS clad in the G-Suit co-piloted the F-16 aircraft and took an
aerial view of ground situation in the Operational area. |

Shaheed Captain Qamar said that they are proud of their son Captain
Qamar who died while defending Pakistan from terrorists in Swat. He
was a practical Muslim and he devoted his life for the defence of

His father highlighted and recalled the early life of shaheed
captain. On this occasion, his mother also said that all mothers

A convoy
comprising of 7 military trucks, loaded with relief goods, moved
from Engineers Center, Risalpur yesterday. In village Kota,
terrorists placed explosive device enroute. As a result one truck
and one single cabin were destroyed. Immediately after the
explosion, the group of terrorist hiding inside the thick forest
stared intense fire. Pak Army soldiers responded immediately and
after 1 hour of fierce gun battle, the Army soldiers successfully
managed to move the convoy to safety and their destination. During
this deadly incident 4 soldiers of Pakistan Army, embraced Shahadat.
The Party managed to move the convoy of food items to Mingora and
distributed food to the needy. |

With singing of an agreement between Pakistan Air Force and Chinese
firm CATIC, the serial production of JF-17 (Thunder) aircraft would
start soon. The agreement between PAF and CATIC on the basis of
“seller’s credit” was reached at a ceremony held here on Saturday
(7th March 2009), whereby 42 fighter jets would be jointly produced
for the use of PAF. The agreement was signed on behalf of PAF by
Chairman Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Air Marshal Khalid Chaudhry
and President CATIC MA Zhiping, which was witnessed by Chief of the
Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed and Ambassador of
China to Pakistan Luo Zhaohui besides other senior officials from
both the parties. Under the agreement the lot of 42 aircraft would
be co-manufactured by China and Pakistan and later these would be
inducted in the PAF fleet. |

potential and to enhance its capabilities. This was stated by Chief
of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani while witnessing troops
engaged in training activities near Tarbela. On a day long trip to
the Special Services Group, he was briefed in detail about all
aspects relating to operational capabilities of Special Services
Group. He also saw troops engaged in extensive and rigorous

recent operations and inquired about their health and welfare. On

of the indigenously developed Air Launched Cruise Missile, Ra’ad
(Hatf-VIII). Ra’ad with a range of 350 kms, has been developed
exclusively for launch from aerial platforms. Ra’ad Cruise Missile
has special stealth capabilities as it is a Low Altitude, Terrain
hugging missile with high maneuverability, and can deliver all types
of warheads, with great accuracy. |

Pakistan successfully conducted the first training launch of long
range ballistic missile Hatf VI, (Shaheen-II) on 21 April 2008. The
launch was conducted by Army Strategic Force Command and marked the
culmination of a field training exercise. According to ISPR, it
validated the operational readiness of a strategic missile group
equipped with Shaheen-II missile. Shaheen-II is Pakistan’s longest
range ballistic missile system with a range of 2000km. It is a two
stage solid fuel missile, which can carry both conventional and
nuclear warheads. |

The craft is designed for fast attack, maritime interdiction
