Greetings!
Recently I find mention about modification of well-known "Tamgha-i-Diffa" medal for "Dir-Bajaur 1960-62". Also, in this period Bajaur Scouts created (1961). What happened in this two agencies at the time?

Funny you mention this. My father has this medal somewhere around the house. He went to Dir-Bajaur commanding a battery from his Artillery unit (2 Field Regiment Artillery) as it was deployed in support of some Infantry Battalions. The problem was due to incitement of the tribals from the Afghan side which turned the sentiments against the Pakistani government. Pakistan Army units and PAF took action against the tribals. This went on from 60-62 off and on.

Saad, are you talking about "Fakir of Ipi" also ?? I guess he did not know about the creation of Pakistan and still thought that he is fighting the British until his death somewhere around early 60's. Please correct if I am wrong.

Not at all, Faqir of Ipi was based in North Waziristan, his base was Miran Shah and areas around. He faught the british in 1930s and 40s, around independence, he suddenly vanished and was never heard of again. Bajur operations were a completely differant story. The Wali of Dir (Dir was still a state in 1960, it was taken over by Pakistan after the operations) and his friends accross the border tried to start a war of independence of sorts, army moved in and quickly crushed the movement. The ruler of Dir manged to flee to Afghanistan

Dir was never an agency of FATA, it was a state, after Pakistan took over Dir state forcibly, it as made a settled district of NWFP and continues to be so
