To the best of my knowldge during 1971 war pakistan army had lost few important features to indians mainly CHAKPATRA feature as a result the troops east of chakpatra though heroicaly held the ground but were cut off from Pakistan army but were holding on at their own there fore it was imperative for Pakistan army to re- capture chakpatra feature from indians.Operation was launched in 1973 and Pakistan army managed to recapture most of the lost ground however in Simla agreement Pakistan could retain almost half of the regains and new LoC was drawn.Unit involved inthe operation was some AK regiment but not so sure.

Thanks buddy, I think my uncle was in this op. but he does not talk about it, he is old AK regiment. From what I have gathered the Op was a bitch, but our boys came through.

Not realy it was a gallant action you can imagin one of the features climb is 2 to 3 hours if you are physicaly in shape and what to talk about climbing with load and attacking ,if i am not wrong AK regement was commanded by Lt col Kayyani SJ but there were others too who got gallantry awards i remember only one name Maj Aziz shaheed but the action was hundered percent sucess.
