I am proud of having pilot and fighter pilot training in the Pakistan Air Force, between November 1966 to September 1970.
Pakistan, our respectful brother nation, has one of the most well discipline Air Force Academy in whole the World. Iranians Air Force Pilots, who have graduated from Pakistan Air Force, they have become the best Iranians Pilot, and they are leading the Iranians Air Force in last twenty years. General Hooshank Sedigh, the Iranian Air Force Commander in 1980s, was one of the first Iranian Fighter Pilot who has trained in Pakistan Air Force, between years 1964 to 1967. General Shahram Rostami, is my course-mate, who is the Assistant Commander of Iranians Air Force since 1985.

Tauseef,
where did you get this info? Nice information thanks! Keyvan Nourhaghighi would have passed out from Risalpur 1-2 batches before Rashid Minhas.

and the above picture from masroor, are the planes in the background really T33s? they appear too big.

could you post more pictures?

The above info is taken
from major Nourhaghighi's own webpage at :

http://www.condo935.iranseek.com/tabliran.html

He has a full chapter (chapter 7) of his autobiography dedicated to Pakistan air force (as seen on the TABLE OF CONTENTS) , but it is still under construction. (As seen here http://www.condo935.iranseek.com/section3.html )

For some reason he hates Canada.

Sallam

The site has chilling reminder of the revolution and Iran-Iraq war. In one of the banners, it says: Khosrow Gulsorkhi has been hanged (to death):

In another banner it says: Praise (blessings) to the able Iranian Pilots in Pakistan

The above is a random picture of a Lockheed Martin T-33 . You can use this picture to compare it to Major Kevyan Nourghighi's picture which i posted earlier.

Seems fine to me.

From the "knowledgeable forum cadre" of ACIG ;) :

This thread talks about TWO different IIAF vs PAF maneuveres.

One took place in 1977, about which you can already read on PAKDEF as Foreign Encounter : 1977 IIAF vs PAF (http://www.pakdef.info/pakmilitary/airforce/war/pafvsiiaf.html)

Another maneuvre about which this thread talks about is an excerpt from General Ebadi's biography in which he talks about an exercise, where a PAF F-86 Sabre (yes not F-6) got a simulated kill over an IIAF F-5 E .

This maneuvre took place in 1976 during General Ebadi's visit to PAKISTAN, and this article was originally found on IIAF.NET forums but was deleted due to family requests. I read it and another Iranian member (PW) read it (i am sure there are dozens more who read it).

Right now i am trying to get hold of a username "IRANI" from www.iiaf.net who was the original poster of this article.

Sarvan Mehdi also trained in the Pakistan Air Force. A little excerpt on him from Major Nourhaghighi's biography :

" Safa; Sarvan Mehdi (Nickname Moraba Jam) = One of shortest pilot who was Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, born in or about 1946 trained in Pakistan as the Fighter Pilot and flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, C-130. 2/Lt Safa was good in academic however he could not complete fighter pilot course, Safa served in in Teheran and Shiraz Transport Wing and was never happy with his position as Imperial Iranian Air Force Officer and once said to Major Nourhaghighi that he like to do very low business that was much better than be Iranian Officer. This comment has offended Major and told him you have to think about this issue before joining to Air Force and getting a chance from a person who loves to Defend Our Country as Officer! Safa, when was Cadet, once have taken more Jam with his breakfast than other cadets that caused objections of other who filed complaint against him with Captain Sepehermand who forced Safa to explain in front of all cadets that why he took more jam than others! Safa said: "I felt that I did not had enough therefore I took one additional spoon!" This simple incident have caused that most of cadets have given "Moraba" Jam nickname to Safa and have caused him mental anguish by calling him Moraba. Hooshyar, was the only sick cadet that made all types of jokes for Safa. " Hey Guys! Do you know if Safa lost his ILS, in very bad weather, what is the best way to give him a safe landing? -Just put a jar of Jam on the Runway he will found his way to airport!" Hooshyar, Rostami, Mehrara and few other cadet had made a group of singer where Hooshyar leading them, he would say three times Safa, and other would reply three times "Moraba" and cheer!

-------------------------------------------------------

One of Nourhaghighi's Iranian Flight Instructors in Pakistan. I read that some Iranians also had english problems and instructors had to be called in for translation ? :

SALKHI; Sarvan HASSAN = Iranian Fighter Pilot who was crashed with F-5 at Bosheher Air Force Base in 1971. Captain Salkhi was Flight Instructor of 2/Lt Nourhaghighi with master Jet Trainer, T-33, Single Engine at Massror Air Force Base, Karachi, Pakistan, where he has shown highest skill as Iranian Fighter Pilot in several Air to Air fights with Pakistani Fighter Pilots where Nourhaghighi suffered over seven Gs!

--------------------------------------------------------

According to IIAF.NET, not less than 30 Iranians had fighter pilot training in PAF.

ABRAHIMI, Captain Mohsen = was born in or about on or about 1946 in Teheran, he was Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, trained with him in Pakistan Air Force and flew Cessna, T-6G, and hardly completed T-37. However later he became the Secretary for the Air Force Commander.
He was one of three dishonest course-mates of Nourhaghighi, who on 1967 has got 300 Ropey loans from Major Nourhaghighi, and refused to honor his loans, while Major was in hard financial condition. Major has given loans to over two hundred fifty Iranian Air Force Cadets in Pakistan that majority of cadets have returned his loans; three course mate, Abrahimi, Ghavipanjeh and Nassiriyan have abused friendship and defrauded Major.

http://nourhaghighi.iranseek.com/

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Bassiriyan, Colonel Ahmad = Born in 1946 at the City of Yazd then became Iranian Senior Fighter Pilot, joined to IIAF with Major Nourhaghighi in 1965 and they flew Cessna and T-6G together in Teheran; and T-37, T-33, F-86, in Pakistan Air Force. They served Iran together at Vahdati by flying F-86, F-5, soon Bassiriyan and Nourhaghighi went to Teheran to be trained as the Pilot in Command of Phantom in 1975. Colonel Bassiryan is Iranian NATIONAL HERO as he contributed a great share to Iran and Iraq War by flying As Pilot in Command of Phantom.Bassiryan's older brother, Mahmoud was Iranian Senior Fighter Pilot too. The latest news from Teheran-June 7, 2001, indicate that Ahmad is ill.

-----------------------------------------------------

Ghavipanjeh, Captain Feriydon = was born about 1946 in Teheran, he was my course mate, who could not complete Pakistan Air Force. Ghavipanjeh, then served in Search and Rescue Helicopter Unite. He was one of three dishonest course-mates of Nourhaghighi, who on 1967 has got 500 Ropey loans from me, and refused to honor his loans, while Major was in hard financial condition. I have given over two hundred loans to over fifty Iranian Air Force Cadets in Pakistan that majority of cadets have returned his loans; three course mate, Abrahimi, Ghavipanjeh and Nassiriyan have abused the friendship and defrauded me.

---------------------------------------------------------

Hareirbafan, Captain Ahmad =Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, was born in 1946 in the City of Mashhad in Province of Korasan. Captain Ahmad flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, T-33, F-86 and trained in Pakistan Air Force, he was very good in the academic. Hareirbafan served with Major Nourhaghighi in Vahdati Air Force Base where on his own application was selected for T-33, and served his rest of service in Teheran.

---------------------------------------------------------

Hooshyar, Major Abolfazl = Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, Abolfazl is from the Province of Azarbijan, he trained in Pakistan as the Fighter Pilot and flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, T-33, F-86, F-5, F-4, F-14, he was appointed to Iran Air. There was a positive challenges between Majors Nourhaghighi and Hooshyar in flying solo in each type of jet before all other their course mates; Hooshyar's flying Instructor was one of best Pakistan Fighter Pilot, Major Aktra.

----------------------------------------------

Iraghi, Captain Hussain = Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, was born in 1946 in the City of Teheran. Captain Iraqi flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, T-33, F-86 and trained in Pakistan Air Force. He served with Major Nourhaghighi in Vahdati Air Force Base where on his own application was selected for T-33, and served his rest of service in Teheran, where he crashed with Bonanza. Iraghi once has given loan to Nazairyan, who was refusing to return. Iraghi, with force has got Nassiryan Omega Speed Master Watch for his loan! Nassiryan has defrauded Nourhaghighi an never returned his loan, therefore, Iraghi's action was proper. This fact brought to indicate the level of ethical code between in Iranian Air Force Officers.
-------------------------------------

Kakavand, Captain Hussain = Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate. Captain Kakavand flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, and trained in Pakistan Air Force. He was argumentive with the managers of the PAF Academy, therefore they have suspended him from flying, oppressively, by abuse of power. Captain Kakavand was a good friend for Major Nourhaghighi, he was trained in the USA as the Maintenance Officer and served Iranian Air Force until 1989.
On September 1988, Kakavand has encouraged Major Nourhaghighi to leave Iran and he did all his best to help him.
In 1989, two friends they met in Germany, since that time there is not any contact! Good Luck with him, and his family!
The photo was taken on Kerachi 1966 (http://img344.imageshack.us/img344/3656/k1673cs.jpg), Kakavand is in center, sitting; talking with Shahram Rostami, who was Full General (Four Stars) on year 2000, and the Commander in Chief of all Iranian Arm Forces! Three Officers sitting with Kakavand were killed by airplanes and Executed by Khomine Regime!

---------------------------------------------------------

Kurdbacheh, Amir = One of tallest nice fellow of Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate.
Captain Kurdbecheh flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, and trained in Pakistan Air Force. He was unable to succeed as a pilot therefore was trained in the USA as the Navigator of C-130. Captain Kurdbecheh was good friend for Major Nourhaghighi, and they have spend a lot of time together when they where cadets, particularly in a trip to Lahour and meeting few Pakistani women that ended to scandal!

-----------------------------------------------------

MEGHDADPOUR, Major Fazloheh = was born in 1964 in Mashad, in the Province of Khorasan, he was Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, flew Cessna, T6G, T-28, C-130. He was a nice guy!

---------------------------------------------

MEHRARA, 2/Lt Jamshid = Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, born in or about 1946 in the Province of Azarbijan, he trained in Pakistan as the Fighter Pilot and flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, T-33, F-86. 2/Lt Meherara was very good in academic however he could not being enough marks to stay in F-86, Fighter Squadron and appointed to T-33, in Teheran were he soon crashed in the Iran Central Mountains. Meherara, Rostami and Hooshyar were very close friends as all three were born in Azarbijan, they were always having conversations in Azari.
----------------------------------------------------

MOEZI, Capatin Reza = Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, trained in Pakistan, flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, C-130; we lost him in the course of duty with C-130. Moezi was in one of his vacations with Nourhaghighi, from Karachi to Lahour, where they rented a Naisan Car and drove all over Pakistan. On the roads, Moezi was asking from Nourhaghighi to take photos, in one case in Several times asked from Nourhaghighi to take a photo from a bridge that there was a sign that was saying the photography was not allowed. Nourhaghighi, refused to disobey the sign. Moezi, arbitrary, took Nourhaghighi's Camera and took the photo. Among all Iranian Cadets, Nourhaghighi was the only person who had a very good Camaer made in Germany with a perfect Ziess lens. As soon as, Moezi shot a photo, a Pakistani's armed solider approached them and asked that they must proceed with the to the station, where an officer commenced investigation. After the Pakistani's Forces were satisfied that Moezi and Nourhaghighi were officers training in Pakistan, they have realized them, however the whole films were destroyed, but the Camera was returned. These facts indicate two points; first, the serious negligence of an Iranian Air Force Officer, Moezi that finally ended to his crash; second, indicate the high standard of training and security in Pakistan Arm Forces, that a simple army solider was able to enforce the law. Iranian Air Force lack of standards have caused huge damages and scandals.

-------------------------------------------

MOFAKHAMI, Major Qumarss = born or or about 1946 in Teheran, he was Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate trained in Pakistan, flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, C-130.

*Nassiriyan, Hussain = Cessna, T-6G, T-37, Helicopter...

---------------------

RAZAGHI, Major ASGHAR = Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, born in or about 1942 trained in Pakistan, and could not complete the Fighter Pilot Course, he flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, C-130. 2/Lt Razaghi was Iranian Air Force Sergeant who by taking course at night school Kharazmi and was able to take high school diploma which was the main requirement for Air Force Academy. He was appointed for whole his carrier in Teheran due to link that he had in Headquarter. Razaghi was accused of furnishing cadets private communication to Headquarters

-----------------------------------

ROSTAMI; General Shahram = Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, General Rostami, was born in the Province of Azarbijan, he trained in Pakistan as the Fighter Pilot and flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, T-33, F-86, F-5, F-4, F-14; General Shahrm Rostami was appointed as the Commander in Chief of all Iranian Arm Forces on June 2000.

This simple incident have caused that most of cadets have given "Moraba" Jam nickname to Safa and have caused him mental anguish by calling him Moraba. Hooshyar, was the only sick cadet that made all types of jokes for Safa. " Hey Guys! Hooshyar, Rostami, Mehrara and few other cadet had made a group of singer where Hooshyar leading them, he would say three times Safa, and other would reply three times "Moraba" and cheer!

--------------------------------------

SEPAHVAND, Captain Hosein = One of nice fellow of Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, born in or about 1946 trained in Pakistan and flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, C-130. Sepahvand was a quiete officer, he could not complete fighter pilot course.

-----------------------------------

SHAFAI, Sarvan Assghar = Iranian Air Force Fighter Pilot, who served with Major Nourhaghighi in Pakistan Air Force and Shiraz Tactical Air Force Base; Captain Shafai was born in or about 1946 in the City of Abadeh in Province of Fars, he flew Cessna, T-6G, T-38, F-4D and E. He was very nice man with good behavior like most of Fars Residents and our good pilots from Fars like Major Parviz Reyahee and Major Fathecher. Iran has lost Captain Shafai in War with Iraq, God may bless his soul in the Heaven.
Late Shafai was assigned to fly with Major Nourhaghighi, as the second pilot for F-4D, in 72 Squadron, Shiraz Air Force Base. On or about 1975, late Shafahi was owing 500 Toman to Major Nourhaghighi that after delay he has given a nice Backgammon made by handicraft artists of Abadeh, instead of that 500 Toman. Now in year 2002, Major Nourhaghighi, still has the board, which has kept its good shape. Late Shafahi, with honestly, was trying to satisfy Major Nourhaghighi that the artists of the City of Abadeh are making the best board in Iran.

------------------------

[B]Yazdanshenass, Colonel Hussain = Major Nourhaghighi's course-mate, he trained in Pakistan and flew Cessna, T-6G, T-37, T-33, F-86, F-5, Iran Air; Colonel Yazdanshenass was seriously injured after his F-5 crashed in War with Iraq, Major Nourhaghighi was visiting him in the Air Force Hospital and saw how badly he was suffering, his head was restrained to the bed for several months, unit he was recovered. Yazdanshenass then continued his services in the Iran Air, Iranian Civil Airline.

--------------------------------------------

TURKAMAN = A name of race in North East of Iran, part of Iranian Heritage

Turkaman, Captain Gholam-Hussain = was born in the City of Hamendan in 1946 , he was Major Nourhaghighi's kind course-mate; trained in Pakistan and flew Cessna, C-130, T-6G, T-37, T-33, F-86. It has beeb said that he was execute by Khomeini Regime in 1982; he was not a man of politic, but he was out speaken man against oppressive government's violations of human rights and freedoms in Iran. Khomeini Regime did not give any kind of right to defense by Solicitor or open public trial that people know what was a real accusation against Captain Turkaman. In 2004, Major Nourhaghighi, got an e-mail from a person alleging being Turkaman' son, and alleging Turkaman was living in USA. However, Major never heard from Turkaman himself. The Government of Canada and a group of corrupt Iranian hired by police are expert in creating forgery and frauds in e-mails.

Dear Forum Members,

Some of you may remember that I made postings to the forum concerning Pakistan ejections and losses. I promised to keep you up to date with the progress of the project.

I have found the postings on the subject of Iranian Pilots trained in Pakistan to be extremely interesting.
All the more so as I have been compiling information on the Iranian Air Force for many years.
This is part of a wider study on assisted aircrew escape systems. I also have a major page on the Pakistan Air Force.

Please visit my website at

IRAN information

PAKISTAN INFORMATION

where I hope you will find somethings to interest you.

I do not claim that the list s are complete, nor without mistakes.

If you can add any information, or high res scans of photos or if you wish to contact me on or off forum I will be happy to correspond

Sincere regards
and respect

Thanks for the kind comment Aziz,

I am VERY PLEASED to say that I have not added any Pakistan losses for many weeks - lets hope the trend stays the same.

I wonder if anyone on the PakDef.info has a contact for

Major Keyvan Nourhaghighi

or a copy of his autobiography -

Best wishes

Mike
