ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Saudi Arabia is said to be in the advanced stage of negotiations for the purchase of Pakistan's new fighter-jet trainer.
Pakistani as well as Gulf defense sources said Islamabad and Riyad have been negotiating for the Saudi purchase of Super Mushshak training aircraft to the Saudi Royal Air Force. The sources said the two countries have been discussing for more than a year the prospect of Saudi procurement.
Details of the negotiations were sketchy. But the sources said Pakistan has offered to provide Saudi Arabia with training in and technology of the Super Mushshak. They said this could include the prospect of producing and assembling the jet in the kingdom.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are regarded as close allies. The two countries conduct joint training and exercises as well as jointly produce weapons and ammunition.
