Ijaz launches PML-Ziaul Haq

By Tariq Butt
Jang - Sunday August 11, 2002-- Jamadi-us-Sani 01, 1423 A.H.

ISLAMABAD: Ijazul Haq finally launched his own political party called Pakistan Muslim League-Ziaul Haq Shaheed (PML-Z) on Saturday and immediately submitted the required documents to the Election Commission to meet the legal requirements.

Ijaz's younger brother, Anwarul Haq, delivered the requisite papers to the Election Commission. By hurriedly forming the party and meeting the legal requirements, the PML-Z wanted to qualify for contesting the October elections, within the timeframe prescribed by the Political Parties Order 2002.

Last week, Ijaz boycotted the presidential election of the PML-Quaid-e-Azam alleging rigging. Since then, he has been meeting politicians. "Most of the politicians I met not only supported my viewpoint but assured cooperation for restoration of democracy," Ijaz said. "We hope we will succeed in putting together an honest leadership," he added. Meanwhile, Belgium-based Muhammad Faisal Khan, observer, Organisation of Islamic Conference, has become member of the PML-Z.

AOA,

95 parties, that is ridiculous indeed. After this election all those parties who gained less than 5% of the vote should have their official party status withdrawn.

Anyways, about the PML-Zia ul-Haq Shaheed just created by Ijaz ul-haq, I am quite intrigued. Can someone e-mail me any additional info that you may come across on the net, i.e webpage (though I dont think they have one yet) or any other relevant info, ie. contact details, member listing, etc. I would certainly appreciated that.

Well I hear that now BB has conceded (by allowing the PPPP to being created) that she will not be the PM, she wants to make a stab at becoming President of Pakistan. Poor thing has really lost it. :D
